Biography

Dr. Rano Matta is a reconstructive urologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto. He specializes in genitourinary reconstruction for congenital urological conditions, cancer survivors, and urethral stricture disease. Dr. Matta co-established Sunnybrook’s Rapid Urological Surgery Clinic and co-leads a citywide virtual transitional care initiative for congenital urology patients. He completed medical school at Queen’s University and urology residency at the University of Toronto, followed by fellowships in pediatric urology, genitourinary injury, and reconstructive urology at the University of Utah. He also holds a Master of Science in Epidemiology from the University of Toronto, where his research focused on functional urology and prostate cancer survivorship.
